Ndandini

Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast and partners consisting of The Rotary Foundation (TRF), Rotary District 5040, the Government of Canada, other Rotary clubs, and private individuals have been supporting projects in the Ndandini Kyaithani area of Kenya Since 2007.

In September 2016, several members of the Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast and St. Hilda’s Congregation Church in Sechelt, BC, Canada, visited the Kyaithani community in Kenya to see the progress of the learning resource centre projects at both Kyaithani and Lower Yatta secondary schools.

Projects in the Kyaithani Ndandini community, located 200 kms southeast from Nairobi, Kenya:

  1. A deep water well
  2. A tractor and bowser to deliver water to tanks installed at seven primary schools and two secondary schools
  3. Greenhouses at Ndandini Primary School and Community Garden
  4. Computer learning centres at both Kyaithani and Lower Yatta Secondary Schools
  5. Providing 4-year scholarships for secondary school students.

Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast has been working with the Ndandini and Kyaithani community since 2007. This area is arid and poverty stricken. Members of the Rotary Club visited in 2016 to see how the projects were working for the people of the community.

Candid photos dating from 2007-2020 show the area, the people, the six primary schools and two secondary schools, and the classrooms.
