On April 18, 2026 the Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast will be hosting its first Community Connections Fair.

The Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast has hosted the Sunshine Coast Volunteer Fair since. We successfully provided organizations with opportunities to gather once a year to find volunteers to assist with their missions and purposes. We learned a lot over the last four years. We recognized a need to represent organizations in the community that are not just about volunteerism but also about other forms of service to the community. The Community Connections Fair represents this evolution toward a new purpose. To showcase organizations along the Sunshine Coast, not just in the spirit of volunteerism, but also with a purpose of bringing forth an awareness of the diverse, interesting places and people who thrive here, all in the spirit of goodwill and connection.

Within Rotary, we are expanding on its Seven Areas of Focus, which align with the theme of this event.

They are as follows:

It is our Club’s purpose to provide a space and opportunity for organizations in our communities to gather, discuss their purpose and goals, mingle, and form alliances or partnerships throughout the day. Your organization must cover one or more of the Seven Areas of Focus listed above and explain how it serves the community. It is our mission to assist you by providing an opportunity to network and communicate the importance of your organization within this coastal community. Come and tell your stories.

The Seven Areas of Focus

Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention: Training leaders to prevent/mediate conflict and supporting peace-building in areas affected by conflict.

Disease Prevention and Treatment: Improving health infrastructure, limiting the spread of communicable diseases (e.g., polio, HIV/AIDS), and reducing non-communicable diseases.

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): Providing long-term access to safe water and sanitation systems, often focusing on schools and healthcare facilities.

Maternal and Child Health: Reducing mortality rates for children under five and mothers, while expanding access to essential medical services.

Basic Education and Literacy: Increasing adult literacy, reducing gender disparity in education, and strengthening community capacity to support education.

Community Economic Development: Investing in local entrepreneurs, supporting vocational training, and developing sustainable, long-term economic improvements.

Supporting the Environment: Focusing on conservation, natural resource management, and climate change mitigation.
